The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, has ordered a holistic investigation into the alleged killing of a German-based Nigerian, Oguchi Unachukwu, by the personnel of the 211 Regiment of the Nigerian Air Force. Unachukwu who was on his way with his family to catch a flight from Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, to Lagos for an onward movement to Humburg, Germany, was allegedly shot dead by Air Force operatives who were mounting guards at the Imo Airport on May 31st.
The widow of the slain diasporan, Mrs. Ijeoma Unachukwu, had called the state Commissioner of Police to ensure that the killers of her husband did not escape justice. In what looked like a swift response to the widow’s demand, the CP has disclosed that he had ordered a thorough investigation into the killing. The CP in a statement issued by the command’s Spokesperson, Bala Elkana, assured that his office would ensure that justice was served.
